Sunday 28 May 2017 Adelaide to Singapore

We’re finally on our grand European tour but our first stop is the Adelaide airport. We were picked up this morning at 6 by our private transfer after spending the night at the Crowne Plaza, Dea wanted the house spotless before we left. So once that was completed to her standards we had to stay somewhere.
Said goodbye to the family with tea at the Cafe Burnelli’s in Rundle Street. We asked our good friends John and Trudy to join us.

Off to the airport and checked in with Singapore Airlines business class. We get to spend the waiting time in the Kris Flyer lounge. I’m glad we got upgraded tickets far better than waiting in the departure gate area.

Flight boarding at approx 8:30am for a 9am flight. I think we’re in love with business class. Huge seats, very attentive hosties, and the food.

About 7 hours later arrived in Singapore. Dea needed some assistance as her back was quite sore. We had priority at immigration and bypassed customs.

God it’s hot and humidity here.

Picked up by our driver in a Mercedes.

30 minutes later at the Swissotel Stamford. Driver and the concierge help with bags and went to check in. For everybody travelling overseas make sure you’ve turned international banking on, on your credit card otherwise it can get awkward at the check in counter. Yes I hadn’t done it and I could not find how to turn it on, on my phone app. They allowed us to check in anyway.

Fantastic hotel, the room on the 36th floor had stunning views of the city and harbour.

Went for a walk around the local area, found we’re just across the road from the famous Raffles Hotel. We’ll be back tomorrow for a Singapore Sling.

Didn’t have dinner tonight, we’d eaten too much on the flight.

Early to bed tonight. It’s been a long day.
