Day 5 Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Arrived in Charlotte Amalie early this morning, I think, as we slept in until 9.

We were supposed to go on a day tour to St John Island at 7 this morning but after yesterday decided to give it a miss.

After breakfast, in a quieter Windjammer buffet, we had a walk through the port area. Bought a couple of trinkets. It’s very humid today and there’s a little rain. Had a drink in the windmill and headed back to the ship.

Everyone has to be back by 2:30pm today. Clearly marked everywhere. At around 2:50 we noticed a lot of senior officers on the pier making phone calls. It seemed like some of them were not happy. Half the ship now has seen this and is watching as the gangplank is being dismantled. At around 3:10 a lone figure can be seen running through the markets toward us. And to cheers and applause our lost passenger embarked and the gangway was fully dismantled.
