Fort Lauderdale and New York. This morning we’re having breakfast with those who purchased ‘The Key’ before we disembark for the last time.

Off the ship, through immigration and out into the throng of people waiting for rides to the destinations. There are two Royal Caribbean cruise ships in and ours has over 6,000 guests.

Collect our luggage and call an Uber to take us to the Miami International Airport. With so many people it’s a long wait.

The drive to the MIA was about 50 mins and an easy run once on the expressway.

Rock up to the Premium check in (we’re flying business class) at about 10 am and told we can’t check in because you’re only to check in within 4 hours of the flight. Our flight is at 2:30 pm.

Hang around for half an hour and get checked in. The guy at the Premium check-in was really helpful.

Through security, we were held up because we had a bottle of waterproofing spray in our carryon. That went in the bin.

Walked the several miles to our gate to wait 3 and half hours for boarding. No lounge for business class here.

At about 2 pm we are told the flight has been delayed indefinitely, due to bad weather on our route. At about 3 pm we are told we can board and as we are taxi-ing to the runway we are delayed again and we could be stuck here indefinitely. The engines are shut off as are the five planes in front of us and an unknown number behind us.

Just before 5 pm the captain says we can go.

After a bumpy ride for the first hour of the flight and a relatively smooth rest of the way we arrived in Newark Airport. Collect our luggage and our transfer is waiting to take us to the hotel. Arrived at about 9 pm. Unpacked the essentials and off to bed.
